Updated Datasource Setup After Adding the Custom Views- IBM Cognos Analytics Custom Development-3

Figure 5-80The Add a source + icon is clicked to select our new datasource

We have to navigate to the CaseAnalytics subfolder we created earlier as this is where we saved the Data module with our custom views.

Figure 5-81The CaseAnalytics folder is double-clicked to display the saved Data module

Figure 5-82The Add command is used to load the saved CaseAgeing Data module

Now, the loaded CaseAgeing Data module shows the two tables and two custom views we are going to use for a Graph Visualization.

Figure 5-83The CaseAgeing Data module shows the four “Tables” we can use

We now click the Visualizations icon (highlighted in Figure 5-83) which opens a large scrollable list of Cognos Analytics graph types.

Figure 5-84The graph types are displayed, from which we can select a type

Figure 5-85The Stacked bar graph type is selected on scrolling down

Eventually, we selected the Stacked bar graph type, which displays a template for the graph which we can fill by using drag and drop to select the appropriate fields from our table list. Each table has an opener (filled > icon) which opens a sublist of the table’s fields.

Figure 5-86The Stacked bar graph type is selected for our data

We drag and drop the Incoming Case Events and the Casetypename fields for the y axis with the custom Daysin field values used for the count on the x axis.

The final graph displayed is as follows.

Now we can select a new tab on the Dashboard and create a second (similar) graph using the Dmageing_Case view.

Figure 5-93The Dashboards can be saved using the highlighted Save as menu item

We can save the Dashboard graph as “Audit and Insurance Solutions Case Ageing Dashboard” to load later under the CaseAnalytics subfolder we created.

Some More Complex Examples

To illustrate how the preceding example can be extended, the following screenshots show the additional tables added with new relationships and the resulting graphs.
